Meet Allyson

Hi, I’m Allyson

As a parent to special needs pets, I understand that their level of care is different than what is required for my other fur kids. I have dedicated my life, and my career, to ensure that I have the knowledge to help the pets in my care as best I can.

Being a house call groomer and business owner has allowed me to structure my company to suit the needs of my clients. Grooming inside the home has been a life changer for my furry clients, as many suffer with traveling, anxiety, aggression, and illnesses.

What is house call grooming, and will it work for your pets?

House call grooming (HCG) means I bring my professional equipment and offer a full salon experience, right there in your home.  It is a form of mobile grooming, meaning I travel to my clients, in different areas, everyday.  HCG has many advantages, as do the other set ups for grooming (salon, mobile unit, veterinary clinic) as well as some draw backs. While neither pet or parent need to leave their home, there needs to be an understanding that the entire grooming will be completed in the home, with hair and potential water/soap mess. I'll need access to a distraction and clutter free environment, typically the bathroom or kitchen, one outlet and a towel.  Once completed I clean my area and head out.

HCG is a luxury, one on one service. I book the pet, not the time required; our pets, just like us, can have off days.  Each appointment is given the full time required to have their pet healthy and happy.

Comfort Grooming

specializing in senior and challenging pets

As a Fear Free Certified Professional House Call Groomer, I set up in your home to offer full service grooming in a less stressful, calm and comfortable environment. First and foremost I want my furry clients to feel safe and consent to the grooming experience. I also want my human clients to see and understand the grooming process, this allows me to teach them how to care for their pet's coat. This is a very special, luxury one-on-one service that helps everyone feel more at ease and relaxed.

I only use sustainable and vegan friendly shampoos and conditioner treatments on my clients.

What People Are Saying

My dog Lucy is pretty skittish about having anyone touch her paws, but she allows Allyson to trim her nails and the little hairs that grow on her feet and stick out between her toes! It’s really awesome to have someone that you trust be able to come to you so your pet isn’t anxious. I recommend Less Stress Mobile Grooming!

My sweet dog Lily would have been lost without Allyson and her care. Lily had severe hip dysplasia and Allyson was so patient and kind with her, even made her dog treats! I truly don't know what I would have done during Lily's last months without Allyson's calm presence with Lily, who was so shy . . . Allyson's work, too, was far superior to any we've had at professional groomers. And, she came to my house and took care of Lily when I was out of town, even washing, drying, and re-doing Lily's bedding when she had an accident in addition to feeding and walking her. She also reached out to me to inquire about how she was doing between appointments. You simply don't find people like her every day. I treasure her, recommend her highly and without reservation. You will not use anyone else if you have her over even once. She's absolutely the best!

Do you have a mobile unit?

Nope, I set up in my clients home for the entirety of the groom.

Do you have a weight limit?

Yes, I work alone and need to be able to safely handle the pets I work with. This includes lifting them into the tub, onto the table, and being able to catch them if they try to jump off the table.

Do you groom aggressive dogs/cats?

Yes, but I don't necessarily enjoy it. I hate thinking of a dog or cat being so fearful that they view me as a threat. I am a solo groomer and own my small business, a bite or injury can be the difference between me working and my business going under. I pride myself on being able to redirect aggression and work with pets that have behavioral issues, but I don't want anyone to get hurt. I encourage clients to speak with their veterinarian regarding aggression or other issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you service my area?

Maybe! I have a large service area so reach out and ask! I go to Festus, Hillsboro, Cedar Hill, Eureka, Chesterfield, Lake St. Louis, St. Peters, St. Charles, Florrisant, Ferguson, and I service Illinois one-two days a month.

How do I book an appointment?

You can text me below or reach out through Facebook.  I need proof of rabies vaccine or a letter of exemption from your pet's veterinarian.

What to expect on the day of grooming?

I will send you an ETA text when I am leaving the client before you. I need a space to park (during winter please do your best to clear me a path, my equipment is heavy and I don't want to fall.) I need at least one towel and adequate space for me to set up.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, or I can invoice.

What if I (the client) need to cancel?

I request at least 24 hours notice to cancel/reschedule. Because I am house call, I can't always find someone in the area to fill that spot, and may not be able to move clients up. If canceling within 24 hours, a missed appointment fee is due prior to rescheduling. I do understand that emergencies happen. I also know that animals can have bad days too and may not be up for grooming.

What if you (Allyson) needs to cancel?

I try to be understanding with my clients so I appreciate leniency in return. Sometimes I need to take longer with a client and may need to push other appointments back or reschedule. I am a solo groomer and business owner and may get sick or injured, I will always do my best to reschedule in a timely manner.
